Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder said
“To be
judging him so soon, after two months, is ridiculous. Andriy Shevchenko
and Craig Bellamy are not scoring many goals at new clubs but it was a
matter of time for Oba. We're delighted for him and there are many more
on the way. The second was very special, everyone enjoyed that." |

Match Report: |
|
| |
A quiet first half
by both sides, with neither team wanting to commit themselves. Roder had
left some of the senior players on the subs bench, no doubt resting them
for this Sunday's match against Manchester United.
The Newcastle manager had obviously told them to liven up at the half
time break because they came out looking like a team on the hunt for
goal's, Obafemi Martins first goal two minutes into the second half from
a Emre corner was a very good effort off the head, but his second goal
left foot screamer that went in off the underside of the crossbar was an
absolute joy to watch.
Levadia pulled a goal back at 65 minutes from a Zelinski's header, a
goal that Steve Harper will believe he should have saved.
N'Zogbia had a quiet game and was substituted near the end of the second
half, Emre was a dynamo all game, no wonder he has become such a
favourite with the fans, Carr and Bramble were solid for the whole game
and even Albert Luque looked a bit sharper in the twenty minutes he had
on the pitch. All in all a comfortable win for the Magpies
